Selecting the appropriate UPS and battery type (VRLA, LFP, or Ni-Cd) for workshops and industries depends directly on compatibility with ambient temperature conditions and equipment inrush currents.
-
A precise understanding of these storage technologies prevents unnecessary budgeting and optimizes critical structural parameters such as floor loading, HVAC capacity, and Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).
-
In industrial environments with motor-driven machinery and CNCs, utilizing Online UPS systems and implementing a sequential startup strategy is essential to avoid overload faults and reduce overall costs.

This document examines uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems in server rooms and datacenters and reviews the differences between old and new batteries:
- Weakness of old (lead-acid) batteries: Old lead-acid batteries are highly sensitive to heat, and temperature increases can cut their lifespan in half. Additionally, during the critical moments of startup, these batteries may suffer sudden voltage drops, causing unexpected server shutdowns.
- Advantages of new (lithium) batteries: Next-generation Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) batteries can last up to 15 years (about 3 times longer than old batteries), occupy significantly less space, offer higher fire safety, and reduce datacenter ventilation costs.
- Smart control: By using modern battery health assessment methods and intelligent charge distribution systems (active balancing), the health of individual battery cells can be monitored to prevent sudden power interruptions.
